There’s really only one thing you need to focus on this year. Yes, just one! It doesn’t matter what your job or business is, or what goals or resolutions you made for 2017. What is this amazing thing that everyone needs?
Discipline! No, discipline isn’t a bad word, and no, it doesn’t always have to be synonymous with “punishment” (like how you might remember being disciplined as a child). As an adult who is set on accomplishing something big, like taking your business or art to the next level, discipline is vital.
Discipline is consistency. Discipline is self-control, an orderly or prescribed pattern of behavior. Discipline can be the fuel to your fire! How does this work?
Discipline can help you achieve your vision.
If you create a habit for yourself of doing your tasks, on time, at a certain time, and putting a priority on this schedule, then nothing will get in your way. If you’re not feeling motivated one day, if it’s cold or raining, if someone calls needing your help with something – all of that has to take a back seat to your tasks and your vision. Discipline is what gets you there, and discipline is what keeps you producing at a high level.
Discipline sets you apart.
Those who are disciplined behind the scenes excel. Have you ever watched a musician perform, and thought “Wow, that was super. That was perfect!” And then the musician comes off stage, and says something about how they totally bombed that performance. What’s going on here? Well, that musician is a disciplined person. They’re so dedicated to their craft that they know when they mess up, even if the audience can’t tell. But if you hear an undisciplined musician perform? Boy, then you can really tell that they’re lacking something that the disciplined musician has.
Be disciplined in 2017!
You can set yourself apart this year and take your business or your craft to the next level by creating disciplined habits for yourself. My team and I here at Helps2 want to see you grow in 2017!
