I’ve been doing marketing for a while now – both with my company Helps2, and for myself as a musician. Trends come and go, but there’s one thing that I think is going to be big this year. Really, it’s been a big thing, and I truly believe it will continue to be a big thing as far as marketing goes. What is this amazing marketing element that can outlast all the come-and-go trends?
Email newsletters are powerful
Now I’m all for keeping up with trends and staying in the know when it comes to the newest ways to communicate, market, and gain a following. But sometimes the hottest and newest here today and gone tomorrow.
Anyone remember Vine? Hot a couple of years ago, but now it’s probably not the best way to reach millions of new people. Facebook is still growing and is still a powerhouse social media network, but it’s not where all the young high schoolers are hanging out today.
With all of this constant change, one thing has been steady: email. Yes, companies still use email to market their products, and yes, companies still see a very high ROI (return on investment) from their email newsletters.
Now I know you’re an artist at heart, and selling products probably isn’t your favorite thing to do. But if you want to make a career of being a musician (or independent artist of any other kind), then you need to sell your art. Newsletters are key!
