Welcome to our new series Couch Conversations! This is where we have down to earth, one on one talks with successful people in the music industry who are really making it happen! If you’re an indie musician – or any independent creative – and you want to know how to grow your influence and your following, then you’ll want to watch this interview!
Arva Byron is a manager for Church Boy Entertainment, a booking and management company in Boston. Church Boy Entertainment books some pretty big shows, and they sell out those shows! So how do you gain a strong enough following to sell out an entire show?
Here are some of Arva’s tips:
- It’s all about connection, especially with social media. Never forget that you’re talking to a real person on the other side of that phone or computer screen.
- Social Media is an awesome tool – but you can’t rely on social media alone. Real relationships, face-to-face networking, and word of mouth still matter.
- Never compromise your integrity and the vision behind why you do what you do.
- Perform for three people the same way you would to a sold-out crowd. You never know who is in the audience who could be impacted by your presentation or who could provide valuable networking opportunities.
