Have you ever had a fabulous idea but didn’t know how to start? Or have you ever had so many projects and tasks on your plate that you just feel like checking out and doing none of them?
I totally get it – I’ve been there. I’m usually in the camp of feeling overwhelmed by my projects and task list and it makes me want to just take a vacation from life.
But not only do I need to get those projects and tasks done, I really want to, as well. I love what I do! But sometimes, the motivation just isn’t there. So what’s a gal to do?
Here are a few tips that I implement when I am feeling as if the burden of work is just too much and I’m unmotivated to get things done:
1. Take a Day Off
It’s really okay to get some rest! Not all the time, of course – we can’t just check out for a day whenever the mood strikes. But rest, real rest, is valuable and powerful. A day of rest – mentally and physically – can reset your mind and your enthusiasm.
2. Write a Step by Step List for your Projects
Organizing your projects and tasks really helps me stay on track. I write out a list daily, and then focus on just what needs to be done that day. Keeping my list manageable – about ten items per day is enough for me – helps keep me get motivated without feeling overwhelmed.
3. Trust God’s Guidance
For me personally, keeping my spiritual life in order is really important. As I pray and meditate, I let God show me what projects I should be devoting my time to, and which ones aren’t important right now. Whether you are spiritual or not, taking some time to center yourself and gain proper perspective are HUGE motivators and can get you back on track.
